Poster Competition
The Most
Therapeutic Potential
Charles River
is generously providing a
grant to support a competition with cash
prizes for the three best posters at the
16th International Conference. The first poster competition
was held at the 9th International
Conference, where three representatives
of the Inflammation Research Association
Board formed the judging panel to select
those posters describing work with “the
most therapeutic potential.” Monetary
prizes provided by GE Healthcare at the
15th International Conference at the
Westfield's Marriott, Chantilly, VA were
awarded at the closing banquet on
September 23, 2008.

2008 Poster Competition Award Winners |

| First Prize |
First prize of $2500, for the poster representing research with
the most therapeutic potential was awarded to
L. Ruan et al, a team of scientists
from the Institute for Nutritional
Sciences, SIBS, Chinese Academy of
Science and the Laboratory of
Molecular Immunoregulation,
NCI-Frederick for Poster A124:
Formylpeptide receptor-like-1
mediates amyloid b induced
inflammatory responses in Alzheimer's
disease. |

| Second Prize
| Second prize of $1000 went to
Poster A126 authored by Liwu Li and
his colleagues, also from Virginia
Tech., for their work entitled:
Inflammatory signaling processes and
cardiovascular complication. |

| Third Prize
| S. Desai and colleagues
representing Boehringer Ingelheim
Pharmaceuticals were awarded the
Third prize ($500) for Poster A163:
Protein kinase Cq regulates
encephalitogenic autoimmune T cells
in experimental autoimmune
encephalomyelitis. |

Rules of Eligibility
-
Scientific posters that have been
accepted by the IRA into the official General Poster
Sessions are eligible (excluding Van Arman finalists), and
are automatically entered into the competition. Authors
selected for Mini-symposia presentations have the option
of also preparing a poster, which will then be entered
into the competition.

Employees of Charles River
or
any of its subsidiaries are not eligible to enter.

The judging panel will only
recognize work that has not been previously published.
Procedures for Entry
-
To
participate in the competition, eligible contestants
should submit an abstract on the form included in the
online Registration Materials.

Abstracts accepted by the IRA for display as scientific
posters at the meeting will be automatically entered into
the competition (excluding Van Arman finalists).

Abstracts must be submitted in English.
Deadline for Entry
-
The deadline, as stated on the
abstract form, is June 7, 2010. Abstracts received
after this date will NOT be published/eligible.
Judging Procedures
-
Five representatives of the IRA will form the judging
panel. They will award a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize to the posters that, in their
opinion, describe work which has the most therapeutic potential. The decision of the
judges is final.

1st prize $2500
2nd prize $1000
3rd prize $500
Prize winners will be awarded certificates and prizes at the Banquet.
